Rebuilding
Your Credit Rating
Easy Suggestions for Repairing Your Credit Rating
Even the very worst credit
rating can be repaired as all it takes is
knowing exactly where to look and how to start.
Even if you have been through a divorce, entered bankruptcy,
had your home repossessed or just made some bad credit
decisions when you were younger, there are always ways to
start rebuilding your credit rating
and get it back on track.
There are countless resources available online for credit
repair, virtually all of them cost money. Here are some
suggestions that may help you ease the otherwise very long and
drawn out process of rebuilding your credit rating.
Talk to Your Bank Manager
Make an appointment with you local bank manager or loan
officer and explain that you are interested in rebuilding your
credit, and ask what are you options and how can the bank help
you.
Quite often one option is a "debit" credit card. With a
debit card you actually use your own money rather than
banks.
Once obtaining a "debit" credit card, use it solely for
purchases you would otherwise make, such as electricity, fuel
and food and pay it off at the end of the month. After six
months to a year of good payment history the bank will usually
allow you apply for a credit limit.
A small personal loan may also be another option you can
consider. Often, a bank manager will have a discretion to
approve small personal loans say of around $500. The interest
rates for personal loans are very low, and paying one on time
for six months to a year will add an excellent report to your
credit rating.
Check Your Credit Rating By Getting A Copy of Your Credit
Report
Take a look at your credit report and make a list of the
companies you owe.
If you have any outstanding debts contact the
companies and reach a settlement. Usually, if the account has
been in collections for awhile, they will settle for a small
percentage of the original amount. It won't remove the listing
from your credit rating, but a paid account is better than a
non-paid account.
You should also check your report thoroughly and challenge
any inaccurate information. Big companies make mistakes too,
and your credit shouldn't suffer because of it. Read the
details of each entry on your credit report, and contact any
companies that appear to have incorrect account information
listed. Sometimes this will result in the file being deleted
altogether.
Second Chance Financing
There are a lot of opportunities for people with bad credit
to obtain loans for cars, computers or other items.
If you apply for one of these accounts you must appreciate
and understand that the interest rate will be higher than you
would probably like if its approved. Unfortunately, credit
repair isn't completely free. Just take out a loan on something
you can afford and make the payments on time. If it is in your
budget, make double payments or pay the item off early to avoid
additional fees from high interest rates whilst still getting a
good credit record.
